Somerset House and Tiffany serve up their seasonal ice
Jamie Mordaunt
The snow is coming down across London right now so it’s making us feel a little bit Christmassy.
The folks over at Somerset House are getting into the Christmas mood too and they probably can’t believe their luck- this is the perfect weather for their seasonal ice-skating rink which opened for business last week.
Once again the skating ‘event’ is sponsored by Tiffany & Co, as you will see from the promo-video below.
For Tiffany it’s a sublime piece of marketing/PR/brand association. The ice itself calls to mind those Tiffany diamonds, and for an iconic jewellery brand to be making this kind of splash at Christmas and in the run up to Valentines Day is, of course, a very smart move.
And they’ve added some nice touches: the ice is bathed in trademark Tiffany blue light (yes, Tiffany Blue really is trademark-protected, at least in the US), there’s a ‘Breakfast with Tiffany’ catering theme, and of course a pop-up Tiffany shop where you can buy something sparkly for someone special, all wrapped up in a precious Tiffany blue box.
Hats off to Tiffany then.
Or perhaps not in this weather. Best keep those hats on, along with the gloves, scarves…
