Hope Diamond goes ‘naked’ in public for the first time
Jamie Mordaunt
Last month we reported on the Smithsonian competition to give the famous Hope diamond a new setting.
Well before it snuggles into that new (temporary) setting, designed by Harry Winston, it’s gone on public display ‘naked’ – i.e. without its traditional setting – for the first time.
Watch the video below and see the new setting which won the popular vote in the US.
The video also features the unveiling of the Hope Diamond – the world’s largest blue diamond at 45.52 carats and over a billion years old – in all its unfamiliar, vulnerable, naked glory.
