The cushion cut potentially flawless diamond is fancy vivid pink in colour and has been set into a ring by Graff Jewellers.
The stone is believed to be the property of a private collector and to have been mined in South Africa.
Its weight is exactly 5.00 carats but its description as ‘potentially flawless’ indicates that it has some very minor surface blemishes which could be polished away, thus designating the diamond as truly flawless but probably at marginally below 5 carats in weight.
The diamond will be on a world tour in the run up to the ‘Jewels: the Hong Kong sale’, taking in New York, Singapore, Geneva, Bangkok and Taipei.
The vivid pink set in its ring has a pre-sale estimate of $5m to $7m.
